The legendary “Motown of Jamaica” seems to be on the verge of a new revival. Along with recent Soul Jazz book of Studio One LP covers and reissue of the CD/DVD Studio One Story comes this news that the studio located on Bretford Road (made famous in song and now called Studio One Boulevard) in Kingston is being restarted.

The Jamaica Observer states that “according to Courtney Dodd, son of the studio’s late owner, commencing January 2012, the studio’s doors will be reopened to continue on its path of major musical operations. Being a family business, the studio will be operated by Dodd and several of his siblings.” It even mentions a new in house band of long time collaborators and some new faces as well.
