Sly & Robbie with Bitty McLean Drop Into Dub Club This Wednesday
This Wednesday May 13 The Echo and Dub Club welcome true originators and master like no other Sly and Robbie! They have brought along the Taxi Gang PLUS the always amazing and wonderful Bitty McLean to Los Angeles. It’s another wicked night of roots vibes at the single best weekly event of Jamaican music in the states (do you another?!)
There would be Jamaican music without them but would it be as heavy?! That’s the question every lover of Reggae has asked. It goes without saying this duo has been the backbone of so much of the islands music over the last 40 hears it’s not possible to talk about the music without talking about these two. Sly & Robbie once again bring the Taxi Gang and some of the deepest cuts to the Dub Club on Wednesday,
Bitty Mclean who, with his enchanting vocals that harken back to a younger Jamaica, has been dropping hit after hit since launching on the pop charts in the UK in the 90s. He produced and engineered and sang on UB40’s hugely successful 1992 album “Promises And Lies” which sold in excess of 8 million copies.
In 2004, he released “On Bond Street“, a collection of Duke Reid Treasure Isle instrumentals, arranged by the legendary Tommy McCook and The Supersonics, which he dropped his silky smooth vocals over the nearly 40 year old tracks giving them an outstanding new life.
Since then he has been making music and touring with the incomparable bass and drum masters Sly & Robbie.
Doors open at 9 as usual and the event is 21+. Tickets are available right now at TicketFly for $12 advance. They will be $20 at the door so get them now and save $8. That’s enough for a beer!
