Roger Rivas Lauches First Attack From New Label Rivas Recordings
Roger Rivas, the keyboard king behind The Aggrolites and Bullets has launched his first attack on bringing his own compositions to the masses. After releasing 2 collections of his Organ Versions (classic tracks with a Rivas workout laid over them) along with his Bullets collection he’s now launched Rivas Recordings.
The goal of the label will be simple. Release high quality Rivas produced tunes using musicians hand-picked from the best of the best from the Los Angeles area and maybe talents from around the world courtesy of his endless touring schedule on limited edition vinyl singles.
Sounds like more vinyl gold from this modern Reggae master. The tunes will continue Roger’s love of all things Jamaican UK inspired with heavy doses of his East LA roots style.
The debut single “First Attack” is a skinhead reggae style scorcher (of course) that reminds you of a lost Dynamites/ Winston Wright hit. It’s credited to Rogers All Stars. He went ahead and posted a video clip to YouTube of the track which we’ve embedded below.
The flip features The Virgos (another Roger Rivas collective I’m sure) with a dark Rocksteady take on the traditional “Sabor A Mi” (I’ve embedded the El Chicano version below not having the tune to confirm but it fits with Roger’s prior work). I look forward to hearing his take on this classic crusin’ oldie.
The debut single is limited to just 300 units worldwide and is up for pre-sale now at rivasrecordings.com for just $8.00 plus shipping. The release drops on October 10th according to the order page so get it now before it sells out. The label design to the right evokes classic 60’s style which is nice.
