Pat Kelly & The Moon Invaders Release 7″

Pat Kelly, The Pioneers & The Moon Invaders in Rosslau

The Moon Invaders from Belgium have been making a name for themselves as one of the top backing bands for Jamaican artists such as Doreen Shafer, Alton Ellis, The Pioneers and Rico Rodriguez. Founded in 2001 they’ve released 3 full length albums, a live album and a collection with Doreen titled Groovin’.

They also released a very nice split full length with equally amazing outfit The Caroloregians who were the backing band for Dave & Ansel Collins at last year’s London International Ska Fest.

Back in 2009 the band got to back Pat Kelly at the Rude Cat Festival in Germany with one of the sweetest line-ups of artists and that’s saying a lot since Rude Cat is one of the top festivals in the world purely dedicated to Ska and Reggae (Hepcat had the pleasure to play as well as Deals Gone Bad). That collaboration has continued leading to new material from The Techniques singer backed by The Moon Invaders.

They’ve recorded and are about to release a 4 track EP including 2 new tracks along with dubs/instrumentals titled “Your Love” (which you can sample below), “Those Guys”, “Cold War” and “Your Dub” all recorded at the infamous Pum Pum Hotel Studios. The title track “Your Love” showcases Pat’s still near perfect vocals in a grand style befitting any of his true classic works. I’m sure the rest will be well worth any money spent. Grover rarely disappoints.

I've been involved in the Los Angeles music scene since at least 1995 going to shows, promoting, spinning records and running labels. Ska and Early Reggae are my passion among other things of course.
