Monday Video Flashback: Deal’s Gone Bad “Movin On”

Monday Video FlashbackLast weeks Monday Video Flashback was a classic if a video from only about 10 years ago can be called a “classic”. That just goes to show you what we have to work with on the ska video scene. I think we need to have more bands doing videos. That’s what MTV did for mainstream music when it first appeared. It allowed people around the world to “see” bands and for bands to further show their creativity. I want to see some new bands make fun imaginative videos. That’s what the people want to see and I say give it to them.

Anyway continuing from last weeks post about the lack of new blood in the U.S. scene in general (as the UK and Japan, among others, seem to be doing just fine) here is a video from the best live band in America right now. I love these guys! Deal’s Gone Bad are my favorite current ska band. I wish these cats could play Los Angeles more then the once a year we’ve gotten recently. They combine the soul and reggae grooves with the fun and excitement that I’m missing right now.

This video features a song from their newest and best release “The Ramblers” on Jump Up Records.

I've been involved in the Los Angeles music scene since at least 1995 going to shows, promoting, spinning records and running labels. Ska and Early Reggae are my passion among other things of course.
