Keith & Tex Stop That Train in LA Sat Jan 12
Texas Dixon and Keith Rowe recorded as a duo for just a few years for Derrick Harriott in the late 60’s after being rejected by the island’s leading producers Prince Buster, Coxsone Dodd and Duke Reid.
Their biggest hit was of course “Stop That Train” (a cover of The Spanishtonians’ ska hit), but they had other cuts such as “Tonight”, “This Is My Song”, “Don’t Look Back” (a cover of The Temptations’ song), and “Let Me Be the One”.
“Stop That Train” went on to be versioned in the 70’s forming the basis of deejay Scotty’s “Draw Your Brakes”, which featured in the film The Harder They Come, and Big Youth’s “Cool Breeze”.
They will perform alongside some of the greatest that Los Angeles has to offer in Queen P, The Delirians, The Revivers and 2000 Tons of TNT. Selectors for the evening will be Man Like Devin (The Expanders) and Mila with MC Junor Francis.
