Hopeton Lewis Duke Reid Single To Be Released

The next in the Trojan Records 7 inch vinyl series has been announced. It will be released on the Duke Reid label which I think it one of the all time great designs of any they’ve released. I just love the clean simple yet distinctive look.

For four decades, Hopeton Lewis’ “Live It Up” has been beyond the reach of most only being released in limited quantities the first time, with the few rare copies that have surfaced on the collectors’ market snapped up for three figure sums. Now, however, the recording is finally made officially available once more with this must-have 45.

Among his best-loved tunes John Holt’s fairy-tale themed ‘Ali Baba’ was a massive hit and still fills floors today. The flip-side features a previously unissued vocal and dub mix of the much-loved tune, while the revival of Trojan’s Duke Reid imprint – dormant since 1973 completes the package in a fine stye.

As always, the single has been pressed on very heavyweight vinyl with just 500 numbered copies manufactured. Everyone has been amazing pressings. Well worth the cost.
