Dawn Penn Live in Oakland & Blackwell Rum Tasting Pre-Party

Dawn Penn Plays Oakland Uptown NightclubOctober is sure not slowing down the amazing and wonderful events featuring legends of Reggae coming to California. The outstanding DAWN PENN (“You Don’t Love Me” AKA “No, No, No”) flies into Oakland on Friday October 12!

The San Francisco Vintage Reggae Society & Wake The Town Radio in association with First Round Presents bring her to the Uptown Nightclub to perform an all ’60s revival set of Rocksteady and Early Reggae classics. She’ll be backed by the Bay Area’s outstanding Ska and Rocksteady outfit Franco Nero. The band will also open the show with a set of their own original material featuring the vocal talent of Rashida Clendening aka “Audio Angel”.

Hear tunes from Franco Nero here.

Add to that an ensemble of the finest original Jamaican record collectors (of course) spinning all night long. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the SFVRS!

This an extremely rare performance by one of the leading female voices of the Original Rocksteady sound.

I've been involved in the Los Angeles music scene since at least 1995 going to shows, promoting, spinning records and running labels. Ska and Early Reggae are my passion among other things of course.
