Dandy Returns! To Perform for First Time in 40 Years

It was announced over the weekend that Dandy Livingstone the original singer of classics like “Rude, A Message To You” and “Suzanne Beware of the Devil” will be performing for the first time in over 40 years at next year’s London International Ska Festival May 3-6.

This is the first Jamaican act to be announced for the festival and it’s a big one at that. Dandy’s songs had a tremendous influence on many artists over the years. 2 Tone masterminds The Specials covered his hit “Rude, A Message To You” of course featuring Rico on trombone who had recorded the original version as well. This is an amazing get for the event.

Other performers already announced include The Dualers, Noel Davies (The Selecter), The Hotknives, Phoenix City All-Stars, The Moon Invaders, Los Grandadians, Rebelation and Capone & The Bullets. There will of course also be plenty of more acts announced over the coming months and an amazing number of top DJ”s from around the world. It’s shaping up to be another must not miss line-up of talent.

One of my favorite tunes from Dandy is “Reggae in Your Jeggae”.

I've been involved in the Los Angeles music scene since at least 1995 going to shows, promoting, spinning records and running labels. Ska and Early Reggae are my passion among other things of course.
