Dancecrasher Previews New Trojan Big Shot Release

Dancecrasher LogoDANCECRASHER posted previews of the upcoming Trojan Records Big Shot release. They also had this to say:  It’s good to report that the latest issue on the Big Shot is up there with the very best of them. Two tracks claiming to be Ken Lack (Caltone) productions that must date from 1968. The A side is the Emotions – You Are The One a nice track in it’s own right but is overshadowed by the B side – Girls Like Dirt (probably) by Phil Pratt.

Girls Like Dirt was issued on a Wriggle Spoon pre in Jamaica which means it’s more likely (but not definite) that this is a Phil Pratt production, though Pratt and Caltone (plus to an extent Tommy McCook) were in the same camp in the rocksteady era and productions tend to overlap on different labels. Either way it’s a killer tune and a welcome reissue.

These new releases are very limited editions with this one capped at 400 pieces. It’s still available in the Trojan Shop for now.

I've been involved in the Los Angeles music scene since at least 1995 going to shows, promoting, spinning records and running labels. Ska and Early Reggae are my passion among other things of course.
